Bb Position - R.H. Melody

Learning Bb Position: The key of Bb has 2 flats, (Bb and Eb). Since your right hand will be in the Bb 5-finger position, you will play the Bb and Eb in the melody line.

The Key of Bb Major

The 2 main chords from the key of Bb, which you learned in Lesson #25, contain 2 flats from the Bb major scale.

The Bb major chord contains the Bb and the F7 chord contains the Eb.
Continue to focus on switching smoothly between the two chords that you have learned from the key of C, G, D, A, E and F major.

Rhythm Exercise

This exercise will have you listen to a 1-measure rhythm that will repeat over a 4-measure time frame. The repeat sign will automatically return to measure 2 and repeat the same 1-measure rhythm.

This is an ear training exercise.

You job is to listen to the exercise as many times as necessary until you can match the rhythms exactly on your piano or keyboard.
In addition to ear training, this exercise is strengthening you left hand and growing your chord knowledge.

Your Second Month

It takes a good 90 days to create a new habit. Unless you are a real go-getter and a master of time management, it's best to start out with just 5 to 7 minutes of daily practice.

This will allow you to gradually increase your practice sessions as your skills begin to grow.

Remember, my course was designed and developed for students with extremely busy schedules. Lessons don't have to be long to be effective. The same is true for practice.

You'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish in just 5 to 7 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Don't focus on the time -- focus on being consistent.
