Guy Faux
I had 13 years of traditional piano lessons when I was a kid. From the age of 5 until I turned 18, I studied nothing but classical piano.
I learned quite a bit in that time, but I really didn't understand how music worked. In college I met a guitar player who also played the piano.
The funny
thing is, he could play the piano better than I could...and he never had a single piano lesson in his life. He was completely self-taught.
He could learn a song in less than 15 minutes and he could do it without sheet music. He could do everything on the piano that I had always dreamed of being able to do.
Now my piano teacher taught me a lot, but I clearly had some major gaps in my piano playing abilities.
And the simple truth is; the techniques that he taught me weren't that hard to learn. The lessons in this online piano course are based on the tips and techniques that my guitar-player friend taught me some 40 years ago.
To this day I feel like these amazing playing techniques transformed me from a remedial piano student into a musical genius! That's how much these techniques changed my entire life!
One Last Thought...
I promise you this: You will know more and understand more about music in one year, than I did after 13 years of classical piano lessons. Enjoy Lesson 7 directly below!

What Is A Scale?
When you hear a musician ask another musician, "What key are we in?", they are asking about the scale that the song is based on.
A scale is typically made up of 7 unique notes. For example, a G major scale consists of the following notes:
G - A - B - C - D - E - F# - G
When you practice a scale, it's customary to start and end on the same pitch, (7 unique notes, and 1 repeated note).
However, since scales start low and progress to a higher pitch, or start high and progress to a lower pitch, the ending pitch will either be 7 notes higher from the starting pitch, or 7 notes lower from the starting pitch - (not counting the starting note). see illustration below
What Is A Broken Chord?
Also known as an arpeggio; a broken chord is a chord in which the notes get played one after the other instead of together at the same time. Broken Chords create a more colorful and complex sound.
A G major chord is made up of the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of the G major scale.
This is true for every major chord. Every major chord is made up of the 1st , 3rd and 5th notes of its corresponding major scale.
Blocked chords are when all of the notes are played together at the same time.
Broken chords are when all of the notes are played individually.
The Ultimate Goal
The ultimate goal of this course is to get you playing your favorite songs as quickly as possible.
You will cover 30 lessons within this 10 week time frame, and as I've mentioned earlier in this course, the real fun begins in Lesson 31.
The first 30 lessons are gradually preparing you for the best part of this course - which is where I begin to show you how to learn more complicated pop and rock songs.
