Lesson 40
Open Arms - INTRO
Small Portions!
I've been showing you a way to tackle complex songs by learning one measure at a time.
This will keep you from getting overwhelmed and frustrated by a 10 page song that you may not be ready to play so early in your music education.

Both Hands
Now I wouldn't normally give you all 8 measures at once to such a complicated song, but Video 40.3 is just a test to see how you do with a larger portion of music.
I will break down the Intro to "Open Arms" into smaller portions over the next two lessons.
Click the play button for the video directly below to see and hear both hands played together to "Open Arms".

How Many Reps?
My piano teacher's favorite number was 20. I know this because every measure I ever had to practice as a kid was 20x each.
Nevertheless, the more times you practice something, the better you'll play it. This is why I say, "master a little bit at a time"!
Don't worry about how many songs you can play, especially when you're just starting out. Instead, focus on mastering everything you learn to the best of your ability...even if it's just one new measure at a time!
